Pods or moving pods are portable storage containers that can be rented by people for one of two purposes. The first is to have a temporary storage for your belongings, while the second is for you to move your things to a new location (can be a new home or a new storage unit).
They have a wide range in size which is similar to containers in a storage yard. Some sizes include 7-ft, 12-ft, and 16-ft pods.
You can call the company and have the pod delivered to you. You can then use it for a specific period of time. They’re a popular option for moving because you can take your time in packing and unpacking. Once you’re ready, the container company can come and pick up the pod and have it delivered to your new home.
Pods can be a great option for moving, but it’s not for everyone. Moving pods are not advisable for people who don’t have the space to place the pods in. If you’re a renter in an apartment or condominium then there’s literally no space for you to put a pod. You can try to plead with your landlord for a parking spot, but that’s a very slim chance.
And of course, pods are not a viable option for people who are not good at, or who hate packing in general. Not everybody likes paying close attention to detail, and doing tedious tasks like packing. Some people are also too busy or in a rush to move that there simply isn’t any time to pack stuff in a pod.
If you are one of these then you may be better off hiring full-service movers instead.
So basically, when it comes to pods, it all boils down to your personality, your lawn space, and your willingness to do some serious packing.
