Moving is such a big life decision that you HAVE to think it over carefully before packing your bags and booking a moving company. Just like with any other important event, moving needs good timing too. Otherwise, you may end up regretting your decision and spend the next few years of your life in misery.
Today we’re listing down the worst moments / worst times to move.
If you want to keep your moving costs as small as possible, the worst time to move would be during peak season which is during summer from May to June.
Since most people are busy during weekdays, they book their moves to happen during weekends. As a result, movers are usually packed during weekends and trying to fit your move in will cost you more.
The worst time to move is during the first day of the month. People by nature love to start fresh that’s why a lot of moves happen during the first days of the month. Similarly, the last days of the month are busy for movers too.
As mentioned earlier, summer is the busiest and priciest season for moving. But it doesn’t mean that you should book your move in the middle of winter during a snow storm. If the movers will have to battle impossible weather, it will be terribly inconvenient for them and you as well. It can also cause possible delays in the delivery.
Never ever move if it’s just something you decided after having a couple of drinks, or as the result of a dare. Don’t base this big, life decision based on a sudden urge or a passing fad.
If you have children, it would be better for you to schedule the move at the end of their academic year so that they can have sufficient time to formalize their documents as well as start naturally with their new school.
You may thing that scheduling your move on a holiday is a great and convenient idea, but you must also consider that during the holidays, road traffic can be terrible AND a lot of people are thinking the same way as you. Therefore, movers are usually fully-booked during holidays as well.
